It’s not often we come across dance tracks that fit the vibe of what this playlist is about, but we were so hyped to be blessed with new singles from Anabel Englund and Forester that we created a special Monday Mood to house our favorite uptempo tracks from this month.
Anabel first made it to our playlist last year when she dropped “Picture Us” off her 2020 full-length Messing With Magic—and then subsequently started popping up on tastemaking livestream lineups from some of dance music’s biggest promoters. Xander Carlson and David Parris, who make up the group Forester, are newcomers to Stay Golden, and are the latest signees to Kygo’s Palm Tree Records. If “Symphony” is any indication, their forthcoming full-length—set for a fall release—should be amazing.
Next up, Neil Frances appear with their second playlist entry, “Falling For You,” which infuses house vibes with some ethereal disco swing. While Junaco, the mesmerizing brainchild of Shahana Jaffer and Joey LaRosa, don’t fit within the same EDM mold as Englund and Forester, their combination of heavenly vocals and dream pop instrumentals will infuse your soul with the same levity.
Bay Area artist Caleborate dropped his full-length, Light Hit My Skin, back on March 26 via TBKTR / AWAL, and we’ve been watching his trajectory ever since. “What U Want” is a bit of an outlier for this batch of songs, but when you hear that hook—“Tell me what you want from me, tell me what you need. I’ll take you for a ride down the California coast ’til the tank hits E”—you know why it’s in the mix.
As always, you can find these tracks and others from our favorite California artists on our Stay Golden Spotify playlist, so make sure to give us a like and stay tuned for new additions.
